Calgary Airport

Calgary Airport in Canada is also known as McCall Field. It is an international airport that is situated 17 kilometers northeast of downtown Calgary and serves the region of Calgary, Alberta, Canada and the adjacent area. This airport offers flights to the places like the Caribbean, Central America, Europe and East Asia. Flights to these outlying places are generally non-stop. The main three air services that you can avail from this airport are Air Canada, Air Canada Express and West Jet. One more significant fact is that Calgary airport is one of the only eight airports that offer you US Border Preclearance Facilities. Depending on the passenger movement and aircraft movement, Calgary airport is the third busiest airport of Canada.

The terminal of Calgary airport is comprised of the concourses. Mainly four concourses are there, which are named as A, B, C, D. Concourse A is comprised of gates 1 to 19 and is mostly used to ferry the domestic outbound flights. Though, in a few occasions, international flights without the US preclearance depart from this concourse. This concourse is not connected with the Canada Border Service Agency. Only the domestic flights can arrive here. The gates from 1 to 8 are associated with the ground boarding. Most of the Air Canada Express flight and all the Central Mountain Air flights depart or arrive here. The rest of the gates are jet bridged, and used for handling all the Air Canada and Air Canada Express flights. There are total 5 security lanes in this concourse. All the passengers coming and leaving through the concourses A and B have to pass through them.

Concourse B is comprised of the gates 20 to 28. Basically they connect concourses B and C together. All the Canada bound or international flights are handled through the B concourse. Arrival and departure for all the domestic flights of Air Canada and Air Canada Express maintained through this concourse. A few Air Canada international flights are also received here.

Concourse C has the gates of the 20 to 34. For this reason, both the B and C concourses share some common gates. The most delicate matter of US Preclearance gets sorted from here. The flights and its passengers must pass through all the security measures here. After done with the security checking, a flight is treated as a domestic one, at its arrival in the USA. There are six security lanes to take you through all the required security checks and measures. This concourse is only used for the US bound flights.

Concourse D consists of the gates 31 to 50 and among them the gates 31 to 34 are devoted to US bound flights only. The gates 41 to 44 are dedicated for handling the international flights. Some additions to the Calgary airport are being made and they are currently under construction. They are being made to deal with the pressure created by constantly growing number of international flights.

The ground transportation around Calgary airport is really commendable. As it is one of the most important airports of Canada, buses, taxis, cabs and private cars are easily accessible to or from this. The bus bay 20, the arrival level of the airport gets connected to the McKnight-Westwinds CTrain Station. The north point terminal allows passengers to board on the BRT 301 to reach downtown. BRT 300 allows direct access to the Deerfoot highway and Centre Street North. The Airporter bus link will help you to get to loads of downtown hotels and to some of the nearest tourist spots. Cargo facility is also available at Calgary airport. In short, Calgary International Airport (Canada) is a well equipped airport, which can provide you a swift and safe ride to your desired destinations.
